TEFAQ guide for Québec: verify, diagnose and prepare

Understand when TEFAQ may be accepted, verify the required skills and prepare with official information plus realistic speaking and listening practice.

TEFAQ is a Québec-adapted TEF version. Learners must verify whether their exact programme accepts it and which skill results are required before selecting a test centre or study plan.

Programme first, test second

Use the current Québec immigration page to confirm acceptance and required evidence. A friend’s pathway or an old forum answer may not match the learner’s programme, date or profile.

Prepare the evaluated skills

Use the official provider description and examples to understand task expectations. Practise responding to the purpose and audience rather than memorising generic introductions that collapse when the prompt changes.

Keep Québec communication central

Add local unscripted listening, recorded speaking and feedback alongside format practice. Test preparation should make French more available under pressure, not create a separate performance language that disappears after the exam.
